Nice RV Park on the East Side of Austin Texas called Oak Forest RV Park. This park is not far from downtown Austin, but more noteworthy is its location close to the Travis County Expo Center . This makes great access for things like the Republic Of Texas Rally (ROT Rally), Travis County Rodeo and much more. Easy access to Bastrop, Elgin, Houston, Waco, and Temple. Not bad for Hill Country access too.

When we drove through this park, Sheri and I learned something. We learned how you can use those gazebos you can buy from Home Depot (or similar) to create a really nice outdoor space attached to your RV. This little park was very charming and given it is close to Fredericksburg we think you'd really enjoy it.

Video Drive By Review : Peppers RV Park Elgin Texas

While driving from Elgin to Bastrop we saw this little park in amongst the trees. Its called Peppers RV Park.


It looks very tree covered and nice so in the hot Texas summers should be pretty pleasant. It is very close to Bastrop State Park and the lake by Bastrop so there is plenty nearby. It is within 45 minutes of Austin. If you like Barbeque, then Sheri and I highly, highly recommend stopping in Elgin. Our preference is Myers BBQ. I don't even like smoked chicken but they sure make it taste good.

Video Drive By Review : Flat Creek Outpost RV Park Blanco Texas

This RV park is located near Blanco Texas. On first blush it doesn't look like much. Sheri and I could not drive into this campground because it had a closed gate - which is a PLUS if you are looking for security. We were able to drive by on one side and get a good look though. Each of the RV's gets a really nice space - almost a little yard. There are trees and we find Blanco a very nice little town that is close to many larger cities in the Hill Country like San Antonio (a simple drive down 281), Kerrville (within about 20 miles), Fredericksburg, Austin (about 45 minutes away) as well as very close to the Blanco River. Let us know what you think!

Video Drive By Review : Tranquil Gardens RV Park Salado Texas

This park is called Tranquil Gardens RV Park and it is located about 2 miles WEST of downtown Salado. Here is some information on the park.

The park is incredible. It is very rural and looks to be very quiet. It was clean and the RV's were not particularly close together. Sheri and I are very big on quiet.

After our drive through review, we drove through downtown Salado. We were VERY impressed with Salado. Its downtown was much larger than Wimberley's and the town had many bed and breakfasts. We definitely want to spend some time in Salado, telling all of our readers about it. We're thinking that for the month of April we'll spend our weekends with Puma in Salado. So look for more from us later!

Video Drive By Review : Temple RV Sales and Campground Temple Texas

This park is in Temple Texas and is called the Temple RV Sales and Campground. Another park off of I-35 which really is nicer than it looks from the road. We could not find a website that seemed to be completely controlled by Temple RV sales so we don't have a link here.

It has gravel/dirt roads which is a minus but it also has lots and lots of trees. I must admit that without a website and without a better name it would be hard to find for travelers that were just passing through the area.

This drive by review was for the Bird Creek RV Park in Temple Texas. I couldn't find a link to a site that was clearly controlled by Bird Creek, so I don't have a link.

It was a park in two sections, one a mobile home park and the other for RV's. It looked very well kept and pleasant. Its was located right off of I-35.

This drive by review is for Lucky's RV Park in Temple Texas.

When you see this park from I-35 you think that it is one you should avoid, but when we drove into the park it allowed the campers to be spread out. There were lots of trees. It had gravel and no paving. The park was spending money in upgrading different parts of the park so we were encouraged that there is continual investment. They even had a little pond/stream running through the park. It looks much better IN the park than it does from outside the park.

Video Drive By Review : Concord RV Estates Waco Texas

This park in Waco is called the Concord RV Estates.

It has a neat concept which we could only partially catch on a drive through video. You would open a gate and back your RV into a spot. The spot itself has a yard attached to it. Then you have little steel buildings to cover your vehicle. These look like great ideas for more full-time living in RV's. Now I must say that this part of Waco is very industrial so it looks like a place where people who travel in construction or maybe oil/gas would find useful. But I love the concept and it can be used in many other areas. We hope to video more parks like that.

I couldn't resist capturing video of this downtown park in Fairfield Texas. It is directly across from the Flea Market. I've been to Fairfield several times and have yet to see an RV in this park. I have to admit that you would be right out in the middle of town - like maybe you were in a goldfish bowl. It is close to downtown which I guess would be a plus. But I HAD to capture this on video as it makes my video of Fairfield mostly complete. Maybe just a little obsessive compulsive, but oh well.

RV Park in Ingram Texas called Riverside RV Park. Very close to Kerrville. The road from Kerrville to Ingram is absolutely beautiful as it follows the Guadalupe River.

One of the local events for which Kerrville is famous is the Kerrville Folk Festival.

RV Dry Storage : Keeping Puma at the Ready

During the Christmas 2009 season, Sheri and I were going to be so busy that we weren't going to be able to stay in Puma as our weekend getaway. So we towed Puma from Llano River RV Park to Millers Creek RV Park (drive through and a REAL review both coming!). We checked out Millers Creek ahead of time so we knew it was first class.

We asked them if we could just keep it there for a month and they said yes. We paid them $40/month and things turned into 3 months, but it saved us a great deal of hassle.

We called Millers Creek and they were so very kind. They told us that they could even tow Puma from the storage area to a site so we didn't have to drive Mr. Big all the way out from Austin. So now we're all setup, we didn't even have to bring Mr. Big.

We asked them if they did that little 'tug boat' service much and they said they did it quite often. Evidently, we were not the only people that thought of that.

So here is a mini-checklist...

* RV Parks will store your RV.

* RV Parks will even move it to-from your storage area.

RV Park in Wimberley Texas called Priddy Meadows RV Park. This park looks very quiet, has wide open spaces for children, the campers are not too close together. Sheri and I want to stop back by Wimberley someday and try out this park. We think it would be a great place to full time.
