RV Review : 2011 Forest River Sierra 355QBQ

This is one of the most innovative RV's I've seen in a while. Superb value and affordable for the common man.

When you think of innovation, you always tend to hear about Jayco or Keystone, but doing the quick video review of the Forest River Sierra 355QBQ Fifth Wheel RV really gave me some surprises. There is quite a bit of innovative ideas in this unit.

Here are some of the distinguishing as well as unique features that define this unit :

  • Four (4) Slideouts
  • Bunkhouse
  • Additional 1/2 bath
  • Water filtration system ( I may leave this off in future overviews as this is cool, but most should be able to add this ).
  • Black tank flush ( so important, I'll keep doing for awhile )
  • Adjustable Electric Awning
  • Outdoor Kitchen

RV Review : 2011 Palomino Sabre 31RETS Fifth Wheel

RV Video walkthru of the 2011 Palomino Sabre 31RETS Fifth Wheel.

Notable Features of Mr. Warren Buffets little RV purchase (Forest River) :

  • Porcelain commode. Its a pretty nice (and heavy) feature for RV's. I like ours.
  • Black tank flush
  • Air Conditioner with Quick Cool Dump. Our Open Range has a Heat Pump Air 5 from Carrier I think and honestly its too darned slow. The quick cool is a pretty darned neat feature.
  • Adjustable Electric Awning
  • Super Lube Bearing system : I don't know exactly what this is, but I'm GUESSING that this might get you out of packing bearings all the time which is something worth making a bit easier.
  • Water filtration system
  • Several addable features are possible (air conditioners, fireplaces, bigger fridge, bigger hot water heater, and electric jacks - but these can be added to almost any fifth wheel).
  • Probably the KEY features you should know about are :
  • Rear Entertainment configuration
  • Triple Slides
  • Fifth wheel configuration

RV Video Walkthru : 2011 Jayco Eagle Super Light 31.5 RLTS

RV Video Review or Walkthrough of a 2011 Jayco Eagle Super Lite 31.5 RLTS Fifth Wheel (5th Wheel). I'm pretty sure the RLTS abbreviation means Rear Living Triple Slide. As usual, Jayco makes a great looking product that is finished on the inside and the out.

Noteworthy features (not all of them, just ones that set it apart or make it interesting):

  • Electric RV Awning from Carefree (they seem to be cleaning up in the Awning market)
  • Electric Front Jacks (this is nice)
  • Outdoor Grill Preparations ( sounds like a tailgating beast )
  • Black Tank Rinse (I won't buy another RV without this )
  • I see you can get a hideabed option...
  • Water purification option
  • Large refrigerator option
  • RV Fireplace - I really recommend this. You'll love it. I promise.

RV Video Walkthru : 2011 Silverback 31B2 Fifth Wheel

A no-talk walk thru of a very, very service-able fifth wheel called the Silverback 31B2. I get amused at Forest River (Mr. Buffets company) as they have a little bit of what I'd call "brand abuse". Forest River is the owner and manufacturer. Cedar Creek is the brand - as near as I can tell. Then Silverback seems like  sub brand within Cedar Creek. No way you can write it succinctly on a single line.

This RV looks very usable and I'll note here a few of the noteworthy features. My list is nowhere near complete, I'm just trying to get the things that are interesting...

  • outside refrigerator
  • bunk house - almost like a separate little apartment.
  • black tank rinse - I think will be standard soon and not so noteworthy, but for now I'm including it.
  • really good ventilation fan - doesn't sound like much, but we LOVE our super fan.

RV Video Walkthru : 2010 Open Range 399BHS

Sheri and I recently purchased a new Open Range 399BHS Fifth Wheel RV. We love it. I created a simple walk through review of the unit in the video below.

Before I talk about some of the features of the unit, I'll list some of the articles I've written that you may find helpful.

Some of the features of our Open Range 399BHS that are noteworthy are listed below. I'm not going to try to be exhaustive, but really just list the ones that are really useful and different.
  • Electronic leveling. Actually, you do the leveling, but the jacking is all electric. Does require some advance planning, but it is pretty neat.
  • JT Strong Arm Stabilizers.
  • Black tank rinse. I'll always want one of these in our rigs. They are life changing.
  • DSI Hot water heater. I LOVE the ability to heat water multiple ways.
  • Electric fireplace. I love having an RV electric fireplace. They are awesome AND they are efficient.
  • Pot and Pan decorative hanger above the sink. That is really cool.
  • Electric RV Awning.
Here are some things that aren't so great. Not a big deal to us really, but you should know Open Range is not perfect. I think they try pretty hard though so this isn't bashing them, just listing some things that need improvement.
  • The Carrier Air V is a pretty lame air conditioner. The electronic controls just don't seem to work correctly. Also it could use a regular wall thermostat. The thermostat is in the unit - directly above the fireplace.
  • The sink needs a splash guard.
  • I would love indoor gray tank controls.

RV Video Walkthrough : 2010 Crossroads Seville 35 CK

We had a great chance to go through the 2010 Crossroads Seville 35 CK Fifth Wheel RV.  This has a great impact when you walk in and the most striking thing about the unit is the 'stone' fireplace. You can't help but chuckle a little bit when you see it, but it looks pretty nice and it really does have a cozy feeling inside.

We've attached a video walkthrough so you can get a real idea of what it looks like. We think these video walk throughs are a great additional resource to the normal photography. We keep them short so you don't get too bored and we don't have a sales guy drone on and on in it. What do you think?

RV Video Walkthrough : 2010 Keystone Montana 3750 FK

One thing about Sheri is that when she sees something she likes, she likes it. We both saw this really neat innovative RV from Keystone at the Austin RV Expo.

We'll let the RV walkthrough speak for itself and you can read plenty about the unit on the web (see the link in this article).

The unit is called the 3750 Front Lounge (FL). What is impressive is the IMPACT or WOW factor you get when you enter the unit. It looks great. Sheri and I would have trouble assessing quality factors (like the frame, the roofing, and all that) so we will have to ask people who look at these things, but it really is a great layout.

We found lots of bedroom space (there is a slideout for the bed) for clothes. That is one of our number one things we look at because we want to make sure two people can live in the unit. The front lounge makes a separate living area and would double nicely as a spare room for children if you have them part of the time.

One note is that this is a 4 slide-out unit which makes it have so much more space.

Anyway, check out the two minute walkthrough and let us know what you think. Thanks.

RV Video Walkthrough : Open Range 345RLS Fifth Wheel

A new thing we're trying is video walkthroughs of different RV's. We're finding video is a great deal of fun and hopefully helpful for people. Most people just show pictures of RV's, but we thought video would be nice. Another thing is that when people do try video that they have to speak. Right now we're just putting music with the video. Look for us to 'up' the video quality in the future.

This RV is an Open Range 345 RLS Fifth Wheel and we taped it at Crestview RV in Buda Texas.

Here is the video walk through - please feel free to leave comments.
